The first version of my website was created in 2005 and since then many things were done on the web site design, the web shop and gallery but definitely six years after the site was launched it needed a serious re-design and update. Over the past month – January the site layout was completely changed and the site re-designed. I kind of miss the old design mainly because of the header and buttons which were especially made for the web site and the colour palette was a bit different from the current version. But now looking at the new website version I can say we’ve done a very good work and there is always a moment that something goes out of fashion and needs a change, especially if it is a website as things in the Net move very fast.
I still need to add info for some of the posted drawings and paintings and in the coming months the web shop will be changed too to echo the new website design. Hopefully in the new year some more ideas for paintings will become real too and will be published on MyPaintings.

“Poppies II”

A friend from Spain asked me to make two paintings of Poppies for her as she loves these flowers. We were staying in a bar in Castalla, Spain and there was a huge painting of Poppies on the wall.  She couldn’t take her eyes off the painting and asked me if I can make something for their house in Spain. The painting on the wall was quite big showing a whole bunch of Poppies but the thing I didn’t like was the raw blue background which somehow killed the brightness of the flowers and didn’t go well with the greenery of the stems and leaves. Poppies I and Poppies II are my version which I created for their wonderful house (the picture below shows both paintings in their lounge).

“Differences”;

It took me few months to finish this artwork because of the several transparent layers I had to apply to achieve the gloss transparent effect on the Stradivarius. The idea of ‘Differences’ came from subjects with similar shapes like violin and pear whose outline follows almost one and the same curves but in practice they are completely different things. It is like many things that look alike in reality but only at a first glance, in detail inside they have nothing in common. I am sure most of us can think of many similar examples from their live so hopefully this painting inspires thoughts.

“Savanna” from the cycle Africa

I started this painting as the first one from the cycle Africa. I am hoping to paint a series of four oils (why not more ), depicting some of the most popular savanna animals. The lovely savanna nature is really amazing with its unique colours, shapes and creatures. Elephants are one of my favourite – so massive and in the same time so gentle.

“Inner Equilibrium”

Have you ever thought of the two different halves which live in balance in each one of us? How solid or fragile can the ties between them be? and how these halves influence over our nature?
Speculating on these questions drove me to the idea of this painting. I looked for bolder image and thought the Impasto technique would re-create well the depth and complexity of the two opposed parts. The metallic silver ink used for the pins makes them real-looking and in the same time strong enough to keep the balance.
